SP-1 was formed in 2003 by the current Managing Director Graeme McNay to offer innovative engineering, design and manufacturing solutions to the North Sea Oil & Gas Sector. Graeme is active in the innovation of new solutions and has daily input into ongoing projects.

The company has grown steadily since its launch and combines design and improvement services on a range of tools for clients in marine, formation evaluation and downhole – working in ‘technology alliances’ with clients or other vendors to deliver cost effective systems and solutions in the safest possible manner.

A feature of the company’s success has been the ethos of personal service and commitment to customer requirements. This has been greatly assisted by the company owning and operating its own machine shop with the ability to act responsively to the challenges that arise.

2011 – ISO9001:2008 Certification awarded by LRQA and new office opened in Singapore

2010 - 5 year Aker solutions framework agreement for innovation and consultancy services.

2009 - First installation of R.A.M.S HOD system for major North Sea operator.

2007 - 5 year exclusivity deal signed with Baker Hughes for downhole product and innovation services.
